INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY SOCIAL STUDIES MAPPING ACTIVITY
Activity
Students will connect their studies to present day by researching the journey of a famous American immigrant of the 20th century. They will research on their own a famous US Citizen who immigrated to the United States anytime during the 20th Century. Students will then create a Meograph to share with the class.
Step 1:
After watching the video the History.com video Immigrant Success, students will use the Internet to search for famous American immigrants.
Step 2:
After the instructor approves a student’s choice, the student will then research a minimum of 10 important dates, places, and events of the famous immigrant American’s life. Student will then create a timeline using an online timeline creator such as Timeline Maker or the Interactive Timeline.
Step 3:
Students are required to create a video at least two minutes long and use multimedia to create an audio map presentation at Meograph.com. Images, audio, URLs, and YouTube videos are all usable forms of media with the Meograph. It is very important when using Meograph to use images that are in the public domain. Students should use the link feature in Meograph to take viewers to a resource if the images are not available in the public domain.
